Musical Theatre Review

"The tensions are reflected in Shonagh Murray’s wonderful score and songs. There is a great deal to relish here with references both lyrical and musical to Burns’ own work and the sweeping soundscape Murray brings to the piece, keeping it moving at a steady pace. "

Writer/Musical Director

Favourite line from the show:

"I struggle with the words"

Favourite part of the rehearsal process:

Day one of rehearsal after learning all the music we did a rough play through of the whole show to see where it would take us. I loved seeing where everyone's instincts were taking them, and getting to watch and listen to the songs standing up for the first time was such a pay off!

Director

Favourite line from the show:

"I hope that by remembering you, someone will remember me"

Favourite part of the rehearsal process:

The first off-book day where we can play and really try out all the things we’ve talked about in a physically free way with no inhibitors.

Producer

Favourite line from the show:

"A legacy is not what men write about other men long after their dead."

Favourite part of the rehearsal process:

When we're playing with the work in the room, getting it on it's feet and making fast paced changes. I love watching the work come off the page and then be shaped by the actors in the room, it's new musical theatre at it's best.
